ART 101: Faculty Resources: Unit 5 Discussion

Unit 5 Discussion

5.1 Art Inspired by Science

In this unit, you learned about how the Post-Impressionists were inspired to create new artistic styles by new discoveries in optics and neuroscience (http://smarthistory.khanacademy.org/post-impressionism.html). In your post, find and post a link to an example of another artist inspired by new discoveries in optics, neuroscience, or other areas of science. Come up with your own search terms or try art and optics, neuroscience, optical illusion, perception, science. Then describe the artwork and the artist’s relationship to science.

Click “reply” to start your own post, which must be at least 100 words long. Edit the subject line to create a descriptive title for your post. If you would like to attach images or files, click “browse my computer” at the bottom of the message box and follow the instructions.

This is a graded discussion board post. See the associated rubric for grading details (click “View Rubric” in the Forum Grade or Thread Grade section to display the rubric).
