Course readings: How to find them: Electronic Reserves

How to locate textbooks, reserve items (books and DVDs) and electronic reserves

How do I find my class eReserve page?

Some of your professors may post assigned course readings on Electronic Reserve. Here's how to access them:

Starting at the library home page (http://www.lib.jjay.cuny.edu/), select eReserves in the Quick Links section. The simplest way to find your course(s) is to type your professor's last name into the search box. You will need a password to access the readings and this should have been given to you by your professor. If you don't have the password, call the Reference Desk at (212) 237-8246 or 8247.

Some tips about downloading readings from E-Reserve:

  • Items in eReserve may come in a variety of formats, e.g. Word document, PDF, PowerPoint, web page, etc. If you don't have Adobe Reader (which allows you to open and view PDFs) on your computer, you can download it from here for free: http://get.adobe.com/reader/

How can I print?

  • Printers are available in the Reference Area on the 2nd floor and the Reserve Room on the 1st floor. Current John Jay students may use the printers by submitting their John Jay email id and password. Each current student is given a $15 credit at the beginning of the semester to use for printing. Costs are 5-cents/per page for black/white and 10- cents /per page for color.

  • For library users that cannot use a John Jay email account, please refer to information about Guest Printing.

  • To print from library databases use the print function of your Web browser. When you view a PDF document, the Acrobat toolbar will appear at the top of your document. To print a PDF file, you must use the print icon in the Acrobat toolbar.
