For books, CDs or DVDs on reserve:
Request them at the Reserve Desk (in the computer lab) on the first floor of the library by call number and title (e.g. The Mad Among Us, call number RC 443 .G747 1994). You will need to find this call number in the CUNY+ library catalog (for help on using the CUNY+ catalog, click here.) You may also look for the book's call number using OneSearch.
If you don't find the item you're looking for using the above instructions, it might be that the book or DVD is a personal copy that your professor placed on reserve. You can also use CUNY+ but will need to search for the item under Reserve Search which is located in the yellow bar near the top of the catalog search page. Search by your professor's last name. (You may see other CUNY libraries in your search results – just look for John Jay Reserve in the location column.) You may also look for the book's call number using OneSearch- just select the Reserves link to the left of the search box first. Note that the call number for a professor's personal copy will be the professor's last name.
Reserve items are usually loaned for 3 hours for use in the library only. Fines are very steep for overdue reserve books, so be sure to return them before the deadline.
