Course readings: How to find them: Textbooks

How to locate textbooks, reserve items (books and DVDs) and electronic reserves

College bookstore

John Jay's bookstore is online. You can search by course or you can log in with your CUNYfirst credentials to see a personalized list of your course materials.

Borrowing textbooks in the library

Books in our textbook collection are kept at the Reserve Desk on the lower floor of the library, and can be borrowed for up to 3 hours. When you go to the Reserve Desk, you will need the book's title and call number. For help on using the CUNY+ catalog to find the call number, see How to find books »

See if your textbook is available to be borrowed by searching the title in CUNY+ and be prepared to note the call number.

See this page for information about making photocopies and using scanners.

General textbook information

Students should make sure they have good, reliable access to all the textbooks required for their courses. CUNY has compiled this page to help students save money when acquiring textbooks.

The Barnes & Noble bookstore is no longer in operation. John Jay will secure a new textbook vendor for Fall 2015. As soon as we have new information about the new vendor, we'll post it here for you.
