Ebrary is a constantly expanding collection of thousands of ebooks in a broad variety of disciplines. A large number of the books are available to an unlimited number of users at the same time. A few books in the collection, however, are like print books and can only be read by one person at a time. If a book is unavailable, you should try back in a little while.
To print from ebrary, it's best to download the that you'll find on the top of the page, on the book's tool bar. Then, click on the print icon and select the pages you'd like to print. You can print up to 60 pages at a time.
Once you have selected an Ebook, there are a lot of great features you can use through the Infotools tab. You can navigate around the text, listen to audio readings of your text, highlight text, take notes, and more. This short demonstration should help you get the most out of your Ebrary books.
Most books in ebrary can be downloaded to a device. If it is downloadable, there will be a tab on the toolbar. But first, If you haven't already done so, you will be asked to sign in (you might want to go straight to the handy flowchart below, which explains the downloading function--or, read on). Click on "sign in" on the upper right hand side of the screen and enter your John Jay email user name and password (note: if you are from another CUNY school, you should go to ebrary from your college library's webpage. If this is a John Jay-only book, you will not be able to download the book. You will have to use the ebook in the library at John Jay). Then click on the Download icon. You can choose to download a book chapter by chapter--in pdf format--or you can download the entire book to your computer. If you wish to download the entire book, you must first install Adobe Digital Editions to your desktop or laptop computer (this can not be done on a library computer). To download a book to your mobile device, you can transfer it to your device from Adobe Digital Editions on your computer .
